Outside the Methodist Church in Pettigo, built into the wall along the road, is a stone bearing the inscription "Wesleyan Chapel 1838". I am a comparative newcomer to the area, but when the year 1988 came near it occurred to me to suggest to the Quarterly Metting that some sort of celebration of the sesquicentenary might be appropriate. I was thinking in terms of a small pageant or a brief account of its story woven into a service of thanksgiving.
